Thoroughbred indoor training track

Covered ride for thoroughbred training

Hauts de France

The project is to provide a 330 metre long covered thoroughbred training track for warm-up / wind down at canter gait. The notion of a meditative space free from distraction is an important idea expressed in the programmation. The site is a wooded hill top plateau. The track must be laidout with a minimum of impact on the finer specimens of mature trees whilst respecting the physical constraints imposed by the training circuit; minimum slope, minimumradius corners, etc. The structure must adapt to the gently undulating ground and accomodate changes in level across the profile. The landscaping must integrate the construction seam lessly in toit’s natural surroundings. 4 solutions were developped, each one respecting the requirements of the client brief but creating a sensibly different environnement.
