‘Air Wheels’ is one small part of a much larger project, ‘Air inPeril?!’ culminating 7 years of work on the theme of the damage inflicted on the environment by human activity. The installation took place in the Kanaz Forest of Creation in the Fukui prefecture, Japan.The structure symbolises the power of sunlight energy needed by the natural process of photosynthesis. A painted standard precast concrete telegraph pole supports a steel angle framework inturn supporting bicycle wheels. The wheels catch the wind and turn freely
